Coming Up With Interesting Social Policy Dissertation Topics

In a social policy dissertation, you are required to identify a sociological idea and pose a research question. Your job, then, is to answer the question you have come up with. You will need to choose the appropriate literature, data, and figures to prove your answer to the question. Before you are ready to do that, however, you need to choose the perfect topic.

To choose the perfect topic, start with an area that interests you. If your work is more interesting, you will be more motivated to do the research for your dissertation. Once you choose a topic area, come up with several different ideas. Once you have ideas, they must be narrowed down to a good length for your thesis. 4. Discuss the Foster Care System and LGBT Community- Do more youths identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender come out of the foster care system? Why is this number higher or lower than children growing up in a different living system?
5. Residential Programs for Adolescents- Do delinquent children have a strong support system? What is the rate of children in residential problems with parental involvement vs those without? Why is this different?
6. Address Aging Issues- Some communities address dementia and other age issues. What techniques are used, and are they effective? Also, what is the difference between communities that address aging issues and those that don’t?
